To the carriers, the merchants, the mills, and anyone calling to ask about cotton,

We are Fuller Warehouse & Gin, Inc. Four generations of one family, in the same Alabama town, doing the same work. Our great‑grandfather Wood Fuller was buying and selling cotton off the wagons in Eclectic well before the business had a name. His ad ran in the Wetumpka Herald in October of 1942: “Bring Your Cotton to Phillips & Fuller — See Wood Fuller for Best Prices.”

Wood’s son Carl Woodson Fuller came home from the Army Air Corps in 1945. In 1949, he and his wife Mavis opened the facility we still keep. Carl ran the cotton gin for nearly half a century. The State of Alabama honored him as Ginner of the Year in 1986, and the Governor recognized him in 2008 for a lifetime in the trade.

Carl’s children carried it forward starting in 1972. Carla came back first and kept the merchant book, buying and selling cotton on our own account. Cotton warehousing expanded from 20,000 to 200,000 square feet. Her brother Gary came back to run the gin, then the trucks, and in 1996 opened the freight brokerage desk. The cotton gin closed in 1997. Warehousing and brokerage carried the work from there. Our over‑the‑road fleet rolled from the early 1980s clear through 2024.

We’ve changed some of the tools, but not the trade, not the town, not the commodity. Cotton, only cotton. Bonded cotton warehouses. A licensed freight broker. Long‑standing relationships with cotton merchants on the shipping side, and carriers we know by name on the hauling side.

It is a trade thinning out. Family‑owned cotton merchants that stood for generations have gone quiet, and plenty that replaced them don’t answer the phone. We’re still here because we never had to be anywhere else.
